In North America the term recreational vehicle and its acronym, RV, are generally used to refer to a vehicle equipped with living space and amenities found in a home. A recreational vehicle normally includes a kitchen, a bathroom, a bedroom and a living room. In other countries the terms caravan or camper van are more common, and the vehicles themselves vary, typically being smaller than in North America.

RVs are intended for everything from brief leisure activities such as vacations and camping, to full-time living, for which they are often parked in special trailer parks. (However, many trailer parks are reserved just for mobile homes, not to be confused with RVs and motorhomes.) RVs can also be rented in most major cities and tourist areas.

Furthermore, they are occasionally used as mobile offices for business travelers and often include customizations such as extra desk space, an upgraded electrical system, a generator, and satellite Internet.

Summer Fun! What kind of recreational vehicle would I have most summer fun on?
Q. I want one of the following and would like your opinions also: Should I buy a Streetbike, Dirtbike, 4 Wheeler or Jet Ski...? The streetbike and jet ski are seasonal pretty much for warm weather but the other 2 can be all year round. I would still like to hear what you think, what do you like and why?

A. You leave the question wide open, Depending where in the country You live, in calif You can't use the forest trails on a vech that is not registered for on road use, I would suggest a duel sport Bike Street or dirt You can go almost anywhere on them and they are more than powerfull for anything other than racing.

inspection and registration for your vehicle? recreational vehicles?
Q. what do you think about these? are they really necessary past a point? should they be done so often and the average citizen be forced to pay so much? once the car is yours and you buy the plates is it really necessary to re-register it every year? also for inspection, should that be optional? many states do not have it, others do. there is no noticable difference in accidents in either place, or any other statistic. what about recreational vehicles like ATV's? if a motorcycle has 2 wheels and is allowed, why not a bigger, safer version? what do you think about this?

A. Part of the registration goes to highway maintenance. There are various other things that get money from the payment also. I wish my State had inspections. every time I follow a vehicle that looks more like a mosquito fogger than a passenger vehicle I get upset. Some people could save money also. A $10 inspection verses a $25 fine for a burnt out headlight. You can't compare motorcycles to ATV's because one is for on-road and one for off-road. I can't see a way to go even 55 MPH, safely, on a trail. Look how many kids are getting killed yearly on ATV's because they go top speed without knowing what the terrain ahead of them is.

what is the gas milage for a recreational vehicle?

A. MPG depends on the tow and the towed. I get 9 to 12MPG with a 37 foot Class A on a 8.1l Workhorse chassis. My mileage varies due to if my tanks are full and if I am towing the SUV behind the MH.
