A. If you want to be the best SEO Professional, participate to SEO forums, there's no harm on asking and read some articles there just to educate you on how SEO works. There are some techniques that you can found only to some users that have the most experience than reading some SEO tutorials on the net and only learning basic SEO techniques.

Can a search engine spider read a page that is protected against being copied?
Q. I have a few articles posted that I disabled the copy command on. The page can still be saved by a visitor, and the source viewed, but they can't highlight the text to copy it. I'm wondering however, if the search engine robots can access that text or not. I'm thinking they might not be able to and am hoping someone who has more web knowledge than I do can answer it. I couldn't find anything on the web about it.

A. The answer is YES they can. However, if you do not want them to index that page, then you can add a script blocking the robots/spiders.

Why are the search engine ranking for my website different on my laptop?
Q. My search engine ranking for my website used to be #3 and now it dropped and it's on page 7 when I search for it using my keywords from my desktop computer. When I searched using my laptop it is in position 5 on the first page. Why is it different on my laptop from my destop? I use yahoo. I have IE and don't have any toolbars. I was in position 3 on both computers for quite sometime but when I checked my positions today, for some reason I feel on to page 7 on my desktop. I am still on page one when I check on my laptop but in position 5. Not sure why there is such a huge difference.
Asked by Mark K - Tue Jun 26 15:13:25 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Are your browsers the same? IE has many different configurations, including some advanced ones that tell your browser to use different search engines to get results. You may also want to verify that you don't have toolbars installed. Some of the search toolbars will insert their own results in the resulting pages, so that if one computer has a toolbar and the other one does not, you will get different results. I find it a little (no, a lot) strange that you are going from page 1 to page 7, though. Can you be typing a different spelling, or different capitalization? Have an amazing day! Micheal Savoie

A. First, make sure that you submit your website to the search engines. It takes anywhere from 2 weeks to even 6 months for websites to show up in the search engines. In some cases, a website will show up after 2 weeks of being online, only to disappear for maybe 3-6 months (which is called Google sandbox, though Yahoo to a certain extent also does) With Yahoo, you can go to https://siteexplorer.sear ch.yahoo.com/submit to submit your site for free. For guaranteed inclusion in their search engine, you have to pay and use their paid services Ranking high in the search engines, however, is a tougher ballgame. Search engines look at the following factors in ranking websites, though in varying degrees of importance: - Age = an older site… [cont.]

A. To get ranked to the very top 10 sites? That could take many months, to even years. And page rank is not the only consideration that places websites at the top. Getting to the top depends on many other factors like the popularity of your website; quality backlinks from others, and not links from link farms, and having fresh content, not duplicated content or from stories passed around the internet. This is largely because many spammers create overnight websites then disappear after they get shut-down. In short, a website that's been around for awhile gains status.
